Autonopedia Newsletter (Fixed version!)
Hello everybody,
Sorry about a repeat here, all of the links below were messed up so here it is again...
Better late than never is the term best describing this newsletter! There has been plenty going on in the background though and lots of interesting stuff on the way.
Anyone who has had problems signing up for an account due to the Captcha system not working properly (asks you to type the letters/numbers from an image, but no image) will be pleased to know that we have dumped it for now. Hopefully the system we have will prevent too much spamming...
As the numbers build up hopefully people will start to use the forums and other facilities. Maybe most of you just want the articles, but putting something in and creating groups for your projects and ideas, forum posts and classified ads is an oportunity that should not be missed.
The old .org.uk site may be going down for a while and may return only as a re-direct to the new .org address, so modify your bookmarks if necassary.
If you have any ideas or article contributions please do get in touch either via the contact form (log-in required) or direct email to editor@autonopedia.org

There have been a number of article additions lately and these include:
Garden and Farm
Under Trees And Woodlandwe have Veteran Trees; A guide to good management a very comprehensive guide to these important assets, everything you need to know, just about...
Renewable Energy
Wind Power features a new article on Carving Wind Turbine Blades that is quite visual and easy to understand, this is rather useful as carving your own can be the cheapest and easiest way to make serious blades.
Perhaps not an easy technology to tame, but an interesting and still potentially viable form DIY power could still come from Steam Power. There are many steam enthusiasts out there perhaps this article could spark some creativity.
Crafts and Technology
Some folk may be surprised to see an article on Small Petrol/Gasoline Engines but their future is assured for some time yet, even under the umbrella of sustainability. They are the mainstay of many forms of portable power tools, back up generators, pumps, simple forms of transport such as mopeds and much more. They are reliable, simple to maintain and can be converted to run on bio- fuels. To provide the equivalent electrical power from a battery bank would require a very large one so they are appropriate technology when used correctly!
For those intoMetalworkhaving a Visual Guide To Tempering Colours with the actual grade of colours on the screen not just names would be very handy, look no more...
Not an earth shaking page underWoodworkbut knowing about Wood Screw Specifications always comes in handy. A much more weighty tome comes under the name of Woodworking Joints, certainly a good introduction to the subject.
This update also sees several new catagories in the Crafts and Technologysection
First of all, we havePaper Crafts, an area of surprising promise and starting off with an interesting and informative article on Papier-Mâché.
Printingis another important and highly useful community skill and so this article on Silkscreen Printing is very useful, especially the wide variety of uses this kind of printing can offer.
Lighting and Lamps are such a vital part of everyones lives that it is surprising it has not been covered before on Autonopedia. We intend to remedy this though, and what better way to start this process with one of the oldest types of lamp with an article on Candle Making
The new General Engineering catagory is likely to grow into one of the larger ones in due course. To give a very small taster of what is to come, there are two pages: Metric Machine Screws Tap Drills Table and Metric Spanners. Those of you that are inclined to mechanics and general engineering will understand these pages and there will be many more pages of reference and how-to's to come.

For all of the gardeners/plant lovers out there we have a new section on the way mainly covering plant propogation, with an extensive plant database. Well worth looking forward to and in time to plan your growing at the start of the year.
There will also be integration with Facebook soon, complete with an Autonopedia page for all of the Facebook fans out there.
Thats enough for now,
until next time...
